James Durno has
lectured Fine Art & Illustration at various institutions
in the Eastern Cape & Johannesburg. He is an award
winning author & illustrator of children's books
& has also Art Directed for Cambridge University
Press. Apart from working as a Fine Artist, he runs
his own business as an illustrator & cartoonist
for various advertising agencies, publishers & magazines.
James has works hanging in numerous private & corporate
collections, inter alia SA Breweries, Delloite &
Touche & the International Fund for Animal Welfare,
housed at Addo Elephant Park. Private collections -
UK, USA & SA.
He is also represented in the "Collectors Guide
to Art & Artists in South Africa" and the "Zebra
Register of South African Artists & Galleries".
He has more than twenty exhibitionsin the past decade,
including Volkskas Atelier (Everard Read). Most recent
exhibitions at Carol Lee Fine Art, Upstairs @ Bamboo
(2005), Stewart Gallery (2004) and Graphiti (2003).
He has also been featured on DSTV channel Kyknet's art
program, "Kuns Kafee".
He currently lives in Melville, Johannesburg
with his wife Jolanta and two children, where he works
from his studio loft.
